There is no country that has been able to maintain, over time any form of government that is democratic without the help of political parties and notably, no country ever will. The wiping out of political parties would mean that we are finishing democracy. Notably, there are different numbers of political parties in different countries. Bi-party or dual-party system is what is referred to the countries that have two political parties. Canada is one of the countries with such a system. As much as there are positive outcomes of such a system such as ensuring a stable and strong government, the success of the parliamentary of government, simplicity of the government formation and a perspective and respectful opposition party, the system also have its negative side (Crawley n.d.). The division of the country into two sides that are hostile, the despotism of the cabinet and the majority part are some of its negative outcomes.
Doug Ford was sworn in as the premier of Ontario in June 2018. He had promised a lot of radical changes to the climate -change policy, education, health, the government spending and more. Evidently, he has been able to do just that in just a few months (Silver, et al., 2019). However, the changes that were so quick created disharmony among the cities and provinces. There has been a debate on whether some of the policies by Mr. Ford are constitutional by the courts and federal governments. Notably, how Mr. Ford will pay for the things that he wants to do remain unclear.
The scraping off the cap and trade market of the emission of carbon to the environment and replacing it with the Ontario Carbon Trust plan which will pay over $400 million over four years in order to find ways for emissions reduction by big emitters will save money for families over the lower prices of gas (Rieti, 2018). However, the financial Accountability Officer thinks otherwise; the elimination of the cap will lead to a loss of $3 billion in revenue.
