Bullying in schools and its long-term effects. Even though people perceive bullying to be a normal part of growing up, assuming that it toughens up children, bullying causes psychological damage to children.
INTRODUCTION
Bullying is a social problem that happens within the social networks; bullying is a constant problem in schools that start with annoying comments but can generate into serious problems if not checked. Bullying affects most students causing long-term problems.
BODY
Main point 1: Bullying is a common problem in schools
Statistics from the National Institute of Child Health And Human Development study reveals that over 50 percent of students interviewed, admitted that at one time, they were victims or perpetrators of bullying. The report further reveals that more than 3.2 million students are bullied each year affecting their performance in school. If not checked bullying can generate into serious problems in future.
Main point 2: bullying and its effects
Bullying is the repeated use of power to harm other people through physical threat, humiliation or isolation. More than 300,000 teenagers skip school at some point to avoid being bullied. Bullying affects school attendance affecting student's performance in the end.
Main point 3: psychological effects of bullying
Some of the negative effects of bullying include the psychological effects of depressions and withdrawal. Bullying should not be viewed as a normal part of growing up because it negatively affects students.
Main point 4: Proposed solutions
School administration and parents should work together to end bullying. Students should be supported to enable them to step forward and report bullying cases. There are several effects of bullying that if not checked can negatively affect students in the end. That is why we need to stop this vice.
CONCLUSION
We should not perceive bullying to be normal, assuming that it toughens up children, bullying causes psychological effects to our children that are why parents and the school administrators need to take action to end bullying in schools. Every student needs a conducive learning environment free from bullying.
