Should Schools Require Uniforms?
The idea of wearing a tie, shirt, and blazer to school might not be the most ideal outfit for anyone, but I still think that schools should require a uniform for the students to wear. When a person is wearing a school uniform, it gives them a sense of pride and creates a school’s identity that becomes essential to any school student. A uniform exemplifies that a person is part of a system which unites them all. In addition to this, people give more respect to someone who is in a uniform that says a lot about the school.
Getting rid of school uniforms will be costly for parents and they have the same importance as laptops and educational experience (ProCon.org, 2017). Aside from this, children get excited about the idea of wearing their uniform again as the school year starts. This is more evident in the younger ones because it gives them passage rites and they actually feel they are part of the organization. A school uniform also becomes a teacher to students on how they should dress up and gain a sense of confidence in their appearance.
One of the unforeseen advantage of wearing a school uniform is that parents are able to easily find their children when they are on a trip. In case a student tris to run away, wearing a school uniform will make the child easily identifiable and they will not get lost (Lemouse, 2017). Both the parents and teachers will benefit from this because the chances of a child going missing are very slim. The competition and teasing between children because of what the wear will no longer be there. When children are wearing their own clothes in going to school, this opens up an opportunity for them to judge each other. There will always be children who have a higher level of maturity compared to others, some will have a better sense of fashion, and there are those who can buy any clothes they want. This is going to create a competition between students and even bullying.
When they are wearing a school uniform, they are all the same and there will be no argument between them. At the same time, a uniform will make the bond between students and the school stronger (DutchNews.nl, 2011). The students are going to take pride in wearing their school’s logo and identity and uniforms will contribute to their safety when riding public transportation. T...
