The mermaid is a Chinese movie which is full of comedy, fantasy and romance that was written and produced by Stephen Chow. The story revolves around Liu Xuan and Shanshan (Lin). Xuan at the beginning of the film is seen to be an evil person harming the society with his projects but later on, he changes to be a concerned person, loving and even supports the poor.
In the movie, Xuan is seen as an evil individual in the way he is interested in money making regardless of the negative implication it has to the people.
