Hospitality and Tourism Industry in South Carolina
The hospitality and tourism industry nowadays has become a significant and essential industry that contributes to many countries' economies. With many jobs on offer, the hospitality and tourism industry are among the growing sectors in the world. The industry contributed close to 8 Trillion Dollars to the Global Economy in 2017, which is expected to cross 10 Trillion Dollars by 2025 (Seog Jobs , 2022). Despite this industry's growth, some challenges hinder smooth development. This term paper focuses on the state of the hospitality and tourism industry in South Carolina.
The hospitality and tourism industry has led to an improved economy in South Carolina through foreign exchange earnings and job creation, including many others. Some places that attract tourists include; Charleston's Historic District, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina Plantation Gardens, Hilton Head Island, Fort Sumter and Charleston Harbor, Congaree National Park, Huntington Beach State Park and South Carolina State Museum. In 2019, tourism generated 24.4 billion dollars for South Carolina's economy (University of South Carolina, 2021).
