In labs 4.1 and  4.2 we have begun exploring the idea of variation by way of natural selection. We may have observed in the physical world that many animals, including humans, are in fact variant in that there are unique characteristics.

In this section we are briefly touching on the idea of humans being affected by adaption, distribution, and selection. When we also review unique characteristics we see that those characteristics are part of a variety or range of possibilities already existing which get refined by advantages such feeding, avoiding death, moving, and mating.

Consider the regions and the access to mates. That is, in regions where humans originated there was access to mates from the region. However, with migration the individuals in a breeding population have access to a smaller group for mates because they have moved from the others and this results in a frequent repeat of characteristics with the isolated group by breeding . This is known as reproductive isolation. Therefore, migration equals genetic loss because there is not mating access to all by everyone.

Theory and Human Origins
Part 1- Human Origins: answers use only information from the video.
1 Human ancestors are believed to have originated from Africa. Their evolution started around 7 million years ago when ape-like creatures in Africa started to walk with two legs and exhibit stone tools.
2 The human lineage broke away from the chimpanzees to form the first human species known as hominins. The hominins exhibited human-like features such as bipedal walking, huge brain capacity, tool use, and small canines.
3 The Australopithecines existed between 4.4 to 1.4 million years ago across Africa and exhibited ape-like traits. However, the features on their spine, skull, and legs depicted a notable shift to human-like characteristics such as continued bipedal motion.
4 The homo species dates back to about 2 million years ago. Unlike the Australopithecines, the homo species became more distinctly human, and their cranial capacity grew larger than other hominids.
5 The advanced physical and behavioral features and their tool technology enabled the homo species to move away from Africa and explore the world. The migration to other nations resulted in selective breeding between the populations through horizontal gene transfer.

Part 2- Spencer Wells: answers use only information from the video
1 According to Charles Darwin, humans trace their origin to Africa before migrating to other regions where they selectively bred to produce refined characteristics.
2 DNA is a linear sequence consisting of primers stores coded genetic information, which is evidence of shared ancestry of living things. The DNA is composed of four subunits, A, C, G, and T, ...
