Social Change and the Black Lives Matter
The drop box, Social Change-1 has been set up to accept papers until class starts this Tuesday, Nov. 19. This first part is just an informal way for me to see that you've made progress towards finding a source of social change, which interests you personally. So, all you have to do is identify an on-going social movement and summarize how it started (as far as you've been able to discover thus far). Issues such as whether it ties to incidences of collective behavior or collective action, or perhaps other social movements can be included. Ideally, you might want to attempt contact with one or more movement participants, but that can wait until we cover additional topics in class, as necessary. Finally, if you've found a sympathy with movement goals, you can present an insider's view to some extent (sometimes, recruitment to a movement can be as simple as liking a band and attending a concert/protest, wearing certain fashions, etc.)
