They have been forced by their circumstances to live in a low-class neighborhood in Brooklyn New York. In the beginning, this day looks like an ordinary day, but as the story moves on, things change all of a sudden. Do the Right Thing centers on how certain racial and moral decisions and social class impact the way people live their lives and interact with one another. It begins with the main characters waking up in the morning. They are ready to start their day with the fullest, but the story reaches a point where some police officers restrain and murder a young black man (Radio Raheem) for fighting with an Italian American restaurant owner (Sal). The police officers claimed that Radio Raheem not only fought with Sal in his pizzeria but also created a mess for people standing on the street. Although Do the Right Thing was released years ago, in 1989, the issue it has discussed is still a topic of discussion for many. All over the United States, African Americans are given tough times by the whites, and there seems to be an environment of discrimination. Even incidents of police brutality make it clear that blacks are not given as much respect and value as they actually deserve. The film also shows how dangerous it can be to judge others based on their class, race or religion. In order to prove his point of view, Spike Lee has portrayed characters stereotypically in this film via their aesthetics and languages.
