Fighting crime has been one of the growing challenges in the police force since criminal keep on coming up with new methods of ensuring that they do not get caught. Hence, it is the obligation of the police force to ensure that they develop new ways to counter criminal activities. Today's technology has played a substantial role in increasing the chances of individuals committing various types of criminal activities (Carr, 2017). Therefore, our police force needs to be equipped with the best-improved technology to help in the prevention of the occurrence of such crimes. As well, there has been a notable evolution in the patrol methodologies for police officers.
The use of surveillance cameras has made it easy for the police o track down criminals. Given the current advancements in technologies, surveillance cameras have become more affordable to most organizations and homes as compared to a decade before. As well, cities have also transformed into having street cameras that help in surveilling the activities of the town. This is in contrast to the absence of technology when the robbery would be reported long after the robbers had left. In addition, cases of fraud and cybersecurity are on the rise. Therefore, the police would require the use of technology in order for them to be able to carry out a thorough investigation of such cases. Digital forensics is also evidence of the ways in which technology is helping the police to fight criminal activities. The information collected by the forensics departments enables the police to track down and arrest the suspects easily. In addition, the federal government is working its best to ensure that the police have all the necessary technology that they require in order to deal with criminal activities. The aim of such technology is not only to arrest the suspects but to also prevent the occurrence of criminal activities. Criminals are aware of th...
