The future of my chosen career
To become a firefighter is not an easy task and so is the process of firefighting itself. The process of hiring the firefighting staff can be very challenging and indeed so many people do not make through the challenge where indeed 70% drop their pursuit. All people who want to take up firefighting as a career should adequately prepare for this task. They should be ready to volunteer their time as a way of helping the community. By so doing they will be building their resume for future consideration. They should consider taking up a course as a paramedic to be competitive in the market. The prospects for this job should also maintain a sound and clean background and also a good lifestyle. For example, having a clean record in terms of causing accidents, a bad reputation because of domestic violence. Generally, these people should be well mannered. They must be good in anger management too. As a requirement, they must have an understanding of the phases of firefighting process of hiring and be ready to take the various tests that will follow upon their consideration for the opening. It is considered good to be visiting fire stations and talking to the real firefighters so that you familiarize with the call of duty.
Firefighting as a career is expected to grow by 5% for the period between 2014 to 2024 and the competition for this job is also steadily rising and as such only the physically fit and those with a medical training background will qualify. A firefighter for the future should possess qualities such as proper writing and verbal communication skills and the willingness to work with different types of people of diverse cultures, should be caring and full of compassion who can make quick decisions in offering assistance to other people. they should be enthusiastic and be in a position to take up initiative as required. The prospects these jobs must qualify occupational health screening which is very rigorous because it involves all medical tests including vision / eye test.
For a paramedic, a certificate in EMT requires more than 1000 hours to be able to cover the curriculum in anatomy, physiology and medical skills. This will go along with wide field and clinical knowledge. The paramedics will be prepared for the transportation of the ill to hospital in ambulances.
