I am currently a Human Resources Technician for the military. I have an established career network which helped me to secure the position I have. I have used several techniques to create the network. To begin with, I asked the members in my network for referrals. I asked my friends and relatives for the contact information of people they considered could be beneficial to me. Secondly, I would participate in professional development seminars for the military which allowed me to meet one-on-one some of the officers. Lastly, I attended networking events where I met with colleagues and added more people to my network
Membership to a professional association has been beneficial to me. It has allowed me to receive mentorship from my seniors. I am often paired with more experienced staff members and hence get a chance to learn from them. There is also professional development programs that I have received from the membership.
