The detail explanation of this course:This course is designed to introduce student to the fundamentals of planning and organizing career development strategies. Emphasis is placed on identification of individual goals,assessment of talents/strengths and values,exploration of career options, analysis of the job market,use of employment search tools (e.g., resumes, cover letters, and interviewing), and management of career pathways.   1. Reflect on what you knew about preparing for a career prior to the course and discuss what has changed in your planning for a career since completing the this course.

  3. From the book You Majored in What? the author Katherine Brooks writes about the differences between linear path and a chaotic path. Which path relates to you please provide personal examples or accounts from your experience.
  4. Discuss your confidence level (10 being very confident and a 1 being not confident at all) in your major/minor choices.(Absolutely 10 and My major is BBA in finance and BA in Economics)

Soon after going through my education there will be a need to take up a job to earn me income and apply the skills learnt in school. Growing career wise is important, and there is inevitable need to prepare and strategize on how to have a strong foundation that would enable me to achieve my career objectives. My expectations were to be taught the fundamental skills of seeking the right job and how to work my way up through to the top. I also expected the curse to help me understand how to maximize my strengths in career practice and how to work on my weaknesses to become an indispensable tool for the organization I would be working for. I also expected some lessons on how to prepare career searching tools like resumes, cover letter, etc. I believe it has equipped me with the necessary skills to enable me to achieve my career goals.

I previously overlooked the importance of having effective search tools when looking for a job. I also never thought a career development plan was an effective at of ensuring you grow career wise. The course has helped me to develop career goals and objectives. I have also learnt ways to achieve my career goals. I have also restructured my career search tools to reflect my career objectives and goals. The course has boosted my confidence and helped me master personal presentation tips that would be many employers look out for when hiring. I have also mastered skills to market myself to potential employers while seeking employment from them.

The strengths finder assessment helped me to discover some characters I have employers might be interested in. I possess nearly all of the strengths to a certain degree, and therefore I need to polish on some of them to increase my chances of developing my career. My favorite theme is connectedness. It features the need of including other people in achieving our personal goals. in my opinion, being deliberative is likely to get me into trouble. Being psychoanalytic about people and situations is likely to develop mistrust with them and alter the way I would approach people or situation. I would be more subjective than objective when am deliberative. Employers would find me to be a great relator. I like meeting and making new friends and connections irrespective of the underlying risk since I believe they would enable me to reach new heights in my career path.

I believe I am more likely to follow the linear path. I love what I do and am schooling to equip myself with the necessary skillset to enable me to achieve my career goals and objectives. Linear path relates to my situation more as I am looking forward to applying my skills I learnt in school in a practical environment. I do not think I can perform effectively in any other field other that what I majored in and am striving to land a career in the same. I intend to further my education in my major ...
