Essay Instructions:

Watch the documentaries "Chaos" and "Nova Great Math Mystery". They are two documentaries on mathematical subjects. Each is just under an hour in length. Watch them both and write a composition comparing them. In some ways they are different: style, depth of presentation, focus, comprehensibility, appeal, answering the question they posed, entertainment value, etc., and in some ways they are similar. Please DO NOT write a composition that merely summarizes the contents of the documentary. ( I have just watched both of them and I am familiar with their contents). Documentary Chaos Vs Nova Great Math Mystery
Documentaries use various literary devices such as logos, pathos, and ethos to connect with the audience. The images evoke sympathy from the audience by making them feel like they are part of the story. For instance, the pictures describing how the PI concept relates to real-world situations excite the audience (Discovery Space Universe). The documentary creates the idea that mathematics is not just a tool for solving problems but a way of thinking.
The two documentaries present much information about their subjects, thus enabling the audience to understand their aim. For instance, the Chaos documentary shows how the 20th-century changes in mathematics have affected people's perspectives about the world. It emphasizes how the world's fin...
