Introduction
Speeches' primary function is to inform, entertain and educate the audience. Depending on the topic of the speech, a qualified person who will create an impact should give the speech. Among the qualities to look for in a speech presentation are the speech's content, the speaker's credibility, and the emotions the speech provokes in the audience. These comprise the three primary aspects of speech delivery; logos, ethos, and pathos. In the TED talk How Great Leaders Inspire Action, Simon Sinek talks about why some brands are successful while others are not despite having huge funding and qualified human resources. The speech utilizes pathos, ethos, and logos to achieve its objectives. Simon is an author with vast experience in the field, uses real company examples, cites previous studies, and makes the audience reflect on the content and their lives.
Logos
Logos involves the use of logic and reason to persuade an audience. It includes citing statistics, facts, and data to support the argument (Ting 240). The ability to cite data, facts, and statistics that the audience can relate to makes the logos appeal more efficient. Sinek, in the presentation How Great Leaders Inspire Action uses logos extensively by providing facts and data about leaders and organizations who have failed in their role to appeal to the customers and those that have succeeded. For example, he gives an example of Apple as a global technology company that has succeeded more than other technology companies because of its approach to marketing its products (Sinek).
