Essay Instructions:

The Mid-term assignment consists of 2 sections. The first section is the elevator pitch with a 1-minute video as well as a written portion, which must be prepared using the MLA format. The format can be found in the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers which may be found in the library on each Mercy campus. While the handbook is the proper reference, you can find other information on the MLA on The OWL at Purdue. Section 2 is a video recording of a mock interview. The assignment must be submitted under Week 7 course material Assignments folder.

Each student will record a video of themselves for the elevator pitch. The video will concentrate on the topics listed in the PowerPoint presentation.

v  The written response will be discussed in a 2-page paper, written according to the MLA format. Any quoted material must be properly cited according to the MLA format. The paper will be run through “SafeAssignment” software to check for plagiarism and quoted material. The paper should be in your own words.

v  In part 2 of the assignment, you will answer the questions in the mock interview in a recorded video. You will answer the questions as if someone is interviewing you or you can simulate the exercise with someone else in the background. The student is the only one required to be visible on the video. This exercise will be a good practice for public speaking as well as oral presentation skills.

v  Both videos can be recorded and uploaded in one clip.
