Operations Management Mistakes and Traits in IKEA
As one of the leading furniture manufacturers and suppliers in the world, IKEA is in a significantly beneficial position. This is purposely because IKEA has the opportunity to revolutionize the manufacturing of furniture equipment in a way that equally promotes sustainability and responsible supply chain management (Business Case Studies). Because of this, it is critical that IKEA develops and maintains responsible supply chain management traits while simultaneously avoiding operations management mistakes that are likely to jeorpardize the realization of their organizational vision.
One of the most influential factors for IKEA’s success and world class operation is the organization’s self knowledge. IKEA clearly understands what they do well and what they do not (Anderson, Anderson, and Parker 345). This is why the organization clearly identifies how it manages its supply chain management in a way that actively promotes their ability to design, partly build, and cheaply sell high quality products for its customers. At the same time, it is worth noting that IKEA has equally developed an accurate understanding of its customer base (Anderson, Anderson, and Parker 346).
