Life and Goals
Growing up, I had a life full of dreams like every other child. I played and threw tantrums all over our house and parents tolerated it all. I had a normal childhood and there are things that I nostalgically remember that truly define me and who I am today. My parents struggled to ensure that we always had vacations and that our childhood was as normal as possible. One of my greatest achievements to this day is when “I baked” my first cake. When I remember and retell that story, I make it a point to say how ‘I’ did it by myself and my mom always smiles and lets me continue with the story. The truth is, she taught me everything there is to know about baking and while preparing ‘my first’ cake she was there to guide me and show me everything and offer me guidance. But, what she does not know is that from that point, my dream of being a chef was conceived and that I had my place in the world. From that point, I started trying out recipes and even at a young age, it was clear that I will be a perfectionist and always want things to be or end up in a certain way. Life was tough, well for every perfectionist life is tough because no one understands our obsession with wanting to get things right or exactly as they ought to be. However, this essay is not about my life while growing up but about my short-term, intermediate and long-term goals. It details the journey I intend to take from this point going forward and hence the inclusion of my short-term, intermediate, and long-term goals.
