Your Argumentative essay is a 600 words research paper. The chosen topic and a position on that topic should be researched.
Acceptable sources for this week essay are one website (no more), two articles (Which are current and relevant to the argument), and two books (which may be an E Book). In other words, only one website may be and should be used.
No encyclopedias, online or physical, are acceptable. Wikipedia or Ask Online, or similar cites are unacceptable. You have read the chapter on how to evaluate websites, I expect students to make evaluations of websites before submitting them as sources.
The five sources you list on this week's assignment must be used in your final paper. You may use the articles in your text as sources. You may use the online databases from the library as sources. All sources, except the websites, must be scholarly sources, which means they are written by scholars or experts in their field. Newspaper articles and journal articles are acceptable, as are some magazine articles. Be sure to follow the text guidelines for evaluating sources. For example, not all magazines are scholarly or would be acceptable. You will need to make the evaluation.
Word count should be minimum of 600 words and maximum of 750 words

MLA style required for formatting, in-text citations, and Works Cited list
Opening, body and concluding paragraphs per course and text guidelines

Immigration Should be Stopped
Immigration can be defined as the movement of an individual from one's country of origin to set up new and permanent residence in another country. Immigration has been a pertinent issue in most countries, especially the United States. There are always reasons for immigration by people, such as turmoil in the native country, or employment opportunities in the target country. Others move to seek asylum. Immigration to the United States should be stopped or greatly controlled due to a number of reasons against it, as is going to be discussed.
Immigration, whether legal or illegal, adds onto the population of this country. The government usually plans for its citizens every financial year based on the number of citizens in its records at that specific time. Immigrants will gate-crash these plans, thereby exerting pressure on the available resources with the residents. This will include striving for the same health facilities, educational institutions and virtually everything that the government hadn't planned for them (Joseph).Such a situation can result to development of homophobic tendencies for these immigrants from the natives.
Secondly, immigrants will bring about an increase in social vices, such as crime. It happens in this manner; they come into the country looking for opportunities and end up with none. They have to survive in the country despite the disappointment of getting nothing for them. In the end, they take up crime as their survival strategy, thereby increasing the levels of insecurity in American neighborhoods (Sarah).It might be argued that crime is a common issue in ay society, but immigrants in one way or another, aggravate it.
Thirdly, immigrants introduce their cultures into the American mainstream. It might not be a bad thing to introduce these practices in the country, but some might prove to be very detrimental to the American way of life. For example, introduction of fundamentalist or extremist ideas might destabilize what the American system practices (Cornelius et.al.).The upsurge in terrorist threats especially in the western world is testament enough that immigration should be extremely scrutinized. It would pose a serious challenge to combat the enemy within than the enemy outside.
