Exploitation of undocumented workers
The issue selected that is currently in the national debate on undocumented workers is the exploitation of undocumented workers. Undocumented workers are vulnerable to exploitation and abuse. In recent years, the violations and abuses of human, civil, and labor rights happen to be obscenely worse. Undocumented workers’ vulnerable situation and lack of rights in the place of work allows employers to drag down the work standards. This leaves less decent jobs available and forces every worker notwithstanding immigration status or citizenship to either accept the same poor conditions and low pay, or be kept out of labor sectors which for the most part employs workers who are undocumented. In America, millions of undocumented workers work in various industries such as the food industry, agriculture, casual day labour, or construction, and a lot of them have learned that when they stand up and complain, their employer can report them to immigration authorities (Harris, 2013).
Clarity: clarity is an essential perfection of thought. In critical thinking, clarification is a fundamental aim. Clarity entails removing obscurities, to free from ambiguity or confusion, to make easier to comprehend and understand. With regard to the selected issue, it is understandable and clear that the exploitation of undocumented workers in America is prevalent and common. At present, there are more than 11.3 million undocumented immigrants who live in America and in the year 2012, they paid over $11.8 billion in local and state taxes (Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy, 2015). Some employers are very much keen on workers who are undocumented and exploit them since these workers are willing to toil long hours for low wages. If no undocumented worker complains, questions pertaining to their immigration papers are hardly ever asked. However, if problems come up, for instance employees asking for access to a union or better pay, or being injured while working, a quick phone call to immigration agents or law enforcement officers would result in the deportation of the difficult workers (Harris, 2013).
Logic: logic basically means correct reasoning. The behaviour and thought of humans is somewhat based upon logic and not instinct. Human beings attempt to understand things using thought, meanings, and ideas. Inevitably, such intellectual behaviour entails logic. Regarding the issue at hand, it is notable that employers at times misuse law enforcement resources in their exploitation of undocumented workers. Cases have been reported in which immigrant workers work and when they ask for their pay, their employers instead call law enforcement officers and falsely accuse the undocumented worker of robbery (Cho, 2013). Even though the charges may be dropped, the undocumented worker is handed over to the immigration enforcement agents. Calling in immigration enforcement agents to arrest undocumented workers or filing false charges against them for asking for their wages amounts to not just exploitation of undocumented workers, but also abuse of the resources of law enforcement officials.
Justifiability: justifiable essential...
