Who are immigrants?
Immigrants are those people who move from one country to another to settle. In the United States, the government has differentiated between non-immigrants, visitors and immigrants including foreign students and temporary employees (Hing Pg.19). In the United States, it is very hard to determine the number of undocumented immigrants in the country. However, with the administration of Trump, the government is aiming to reduce the number of immigrants who enter America. Laws and policies have been introduced to curb immigration. During the administration of President Obama, immigration was a major issue. Although President Trump has tried to resolve the issues some races have experienced open discrimination.
What is the general impact of immigration policy on the budget of the federal, state, and local government?
Immigrants can make the economy to incur a lot of costs. Immigrants add a burden on the local and state government than on the federal government. With the immigration policy, the local and the state government can determine the amount of taxes that are paid by the immigrants and the native-born citizens (Massey & Karen Pg.17). The purpose of this law is to regulate such issues. However, with the current politics, leaders are claiming that immigrants have added additional costs on educational and healthcare costs. Leaders have proposed that this policy should ensure immigrants have paid for public goods.
Is Immigration policy a better solution for immigration?
Nowadays it is not clear if immigration or unauthorized immigration is the problem. When the immigration policy was enacted, leaders thought that this policy would be the solution to illegal immigration in the United States. However, immigration policy is not the solution. Today, political leaders are claiming that this policy is wasting the taxpayer money and it is also violating the rights of the people. Leaders also claim that this law has made crimes like drug trafficking, smuggling ...
