The immigration act set on 3 October 1965 waved way the immigration quota that existed in the early 1920’s which limited the number of immigrants across nations. The immigration act was signed by US president Lyndon Johnson which increased globalization. This created a foundation for immigration into the US. From this act, over 120,000 immigration visas were made to the western hemisphere region from which America benefited the most. The visas gave a preference chance to American citizen relatives with special job skills to apply, I (Cho Wang) could not afford to lose such an open chance to land in the US which was my dream country.
My main reason for immigration to the US was in search of opportunities both in terms of jobs and education. I used to work as nurse in my home city back in China. During this time, it was really tough, jobs were on contract basis and anytime you could be told the contract has expired, meaning I could stay 6 months or so waiting for contract renewal.
