Globalization is a critical development which has enormously improved between 19th and 20th century. Many definitions of globalization have been evident in the past century. However, the most viable definition of globalization involves the exchanges and sharing of cultural practices, technologies, capital, services, goods, and human beings. It is grouped into three major categories: political, economic, and cultural (Getz & Clarke). However, globalization is dependent on the interaction process. The more people interact, the more they can share different knowledge and improve their communication standards. 19th and 20th-century globalization was majorly attributed to the transfer of commodities such as palm oil and bananas. During this period, there were increased instances of trading activities among the European and local government, which was not adequately received by the normal society such as Khan Society in Abina and the important men. Generally, the trade's major determinant includes international commodity flows, marketing, and cultural exchange (Daudin et al.). Since globalization is technical to measure, using the measure of goods’ flow and interactions can determine the rate of globalization. In the story provided by Abina, it is essential to note that globalization's rate increased depending on unique and diversified factors. From Abina's story, it can be noted that globalization is dependent on labor regimes, the flow of goods, and political structures. Initially, it is evident that most of the activities which the Foreign conducted against the locals limited their ability to interact and share cultural norms and practices. However, with the coordination and political engagement between the Khan society and the British, there was significant improvement with increased industrialization and sharing of the identified commodities. Abina notes that with the production and flow of bananas as a commodity, the British's engagement also improved (Daudin et al.) This engagement was not observed initially until the commodities became an essential product among the Europeans and the locals. Generally, one can argue that the identified commodities acted as a boosting power to achieve higher global growth. The engagement among the Europeans and the locals also created a conducive environment that improved peace and unity. The environment was also conducive for the expansion of the use of palm oil and bananas.
Additionally, the creation of labor regimes among the European and locals can also be identified as one of the major contributors to globalization. According to Burlacu et al., labor regimes played an essential role in promoting globalization due to the establishments of transportation between the locals and Foreigners, as observed in the Khan society.
