With technological advancement, the possibility of remote learning has emerged as an option for high school students. Remote learning is known as online learning, a term that largely describes the education that is delivered across a distance as opposed to through the use of a traditional classroom (Al-Asfour 3). While some may claim it increases flexibility in scheduling, students should avoid online high school as it limits one's social opportunities, denies the student the chance to participate in organized school sports, increases the cost of education, and may lead to procrastination.
One should avoid attending online high school as it limits the available social opportunities. A significant feature of online learning is that the student tends to be alone at home, focusing solely on their studies. Consequently, extra efforts are required for an individual to minimize the resulting isolation associated with online schooling (Yuhana and Kachik 15). If a student does not arrange social opportunities, there is a high likelihood that one would end up becoming socially isolated from their peers. In such a way, engaging in online high school should be avoided as it minimizes social opportunities.
While online high schools offer education, they limit participation in organized school sports. The importance of sports in education cannot be understated. To this end, active participation in sports activities offers the student the opportunities to break away from learning and has been found to be instrumental in alleviating exam stress.
