Smaller families are not better than larger ones
Introduction
Many individuals increasingly prefer to have smaller families in contemporary times due to the perceived benefits of such arrangements. People are more inclined to perceive smaller families as happier and more perfect, irrespective of socioeconomic status. However, most of these perceptions are centered on heresy rather than credible research to support such rationales. Therefore, it is essential to examine whether smaller families have better life compared to larger ones. I support the argument that smaller families are not better than larger ones. This report argues that larger families are better than smaller ones since they have more income and wealth thus translates to improved living standards, have better children’s educational outcomes, and offers an environment that cultivates a sense of unity that leads to stronger familial ties.
More Income and Wealth
Material wellbeing, coupled with physical health and family life, constitutes one of the most cited issues in life. The number of siblings that an individual has could impact both their material well-being and family formation within later life (Downey 748). In this vein, the association between the satisfaction in life and the number of siblings could mirror an extensive issue than dissatisfaction or satisfaction that emanates from the association the person has with their siblings. Larger families translate to more income and wealth that positively impact satisfaction levels in an individual’s life. Therefore, larger families are better than smaller families since they translate to financial and economic benefits, especially when children leave home. Accordingly, additional children increase life satisfaction mainly when they leave home (Parr).
