The information they obtain helps them to determine the right population to market their policies. From the perspective of privacy, there exist several key social and ethical issues raised. Notably, the three primary components of privacy include freedom from surveillance, control of a person’s data, and the intrusion of personal space (Baase, 2013). When life insurance companies analyze consumers’ profiles without their consent, they are violating people’s privacy by intruding their personal cyberspace, tracking their behaviors, and using individuals’ data secretly. In this case, one might wonder how such firms do with the information once they use it, how they store it, and after how long they destroy it. In other words, it is not well-known about how they handle the data they gather from the Internet, which might pose security vulnerabilities to owners.
