The article by Quinn is about the Aboriginal students facing many animosities from the school staff that includes the psychological abuse. Such abuse affects the future generation by making it violent and alcoholic. Trauma contributes to the loss of the community since it affects the victims’ physical and emotional well-being. Restricting the language, cultural values and beliefs of the learners lead to the loss of culture. Healing from this trauma can be through interactions with elders and sharing knowledge.
The best thing about Quinn’s article is that he has suggested the solutions to the underlying challenges of trauma that affects the aboriginal populations. As a result, all parties directly or indirectly involved with these people are knowledgeable about handling them.
