How Far Human Should Go to Protect the Environment
Introduction
Human responsibility of the environment is a highly controversial topic around the world. The threat of global warming, climate change, and pollution have put the world on the edge of a grave challenge to maintain and improve the quality of environmental media. The other trials exposed to the environment are deforestation, loss of biodiversity, and chemical emission from the factories. Human beings should protect the environment through their individual and systematic share (Wickson, 2012). With Rogerian argument format, the essay discusses whether environmental protection is crucial to save the world or not and how far humans can go protecting it. The discussion reveals that human beings have to put efforts to protect the environment as it will help keep the threats of global warming at bay and ensure a sustainable future for humankind.
Opposing Position
There is another school of thought with the perspective that we should forget about environmental protection concerning global warming, climate change, and loss of biodiversity. Paraphrasing an article on the problem takes us to consider the problem in a new way. Instead of all traditionally disputed environmental concerns, we should draw a new outlook of ecology focusing on ourselves and the microorganisms associated with every living body in the world like human beings and plants. Thereby, they are dependent on themselves for survival and growth safe from outside challenges of the environment. Regarding this, Arne Naess, an eco-philosopher, claimed that human beings radically underrate themselves. He believed that insight into the strong bonds with biological communities let human beings extend their outlook of self as “ecological self” (Wickson, 2012). He inspired us to identify ourselves with non-human beings and our planet and other forms of life present on it.
The Context for The Opposing Position
The motivation behind a forgetful approach to environmental concerns is the human microbiome project. This project summarizes that it has given a new perspective on environmental protection and its connection with human beings. It refers to all the microorganisms living on and in our bodies. The number of microbial cells present in our bodies even crosses our body cells with a ratio of 10-1. Besides, every human body has a unique number of these microbial in the body, along with the fact that it is continuously changing as other organisms continuously come in and go from our bodies. Through this entering and leaving out the number of microbial in our bodies, we become a new self. Therefore, the philosophers with this outlook emphasize thinking about our new-self more than conventional ecology. It has developed a new form of ecology that we need to pay more attention to global warming and other controversial threats to the environment (Weinstock, 2011).

Environmental concern is essential because the world is standing on the verge of destruction due to the worst environmental threats like global warming, los...
