The prison industrial complex touches on the rapid expansion of the inmate population, I connection to the political influence of private prison companies and businesses which are involved in supply of goods and services to the prison. Although this can be said to affects both genders, the implication is stronger and worse to women, (Cherisse 2011). That is why there have been deliberations of resistance and alternatives to the prison industrial complex.
In attempts to articulate the alternatives, it is crucial that the concerned bodies get to know the condition on the ground for the women in prisons. That is why Charisse Shumate, with the inmates organize d the video to show the implication of the prison industrial complex.
