There has been an escalation of the prison industrial complex which has led to thoughts of the mitigation of it. The prison industrial complex touches on the rapid expansion of the inmate population, I connection to the political influence of private prison companies and businesses which are involved in supply of goods and services to the prison. Although this can be said to affects both genders, the implication is stronger and worse to women, (Cherisse 2011). That is why there have been deliberations of resistance and alternatives to the prison industrial complex.
In attempts to articulate the alternatives, it is crucial that the concerned bodies get to know the condition on the ground for the women in prisons. It is crucial that all means of communicating the ailments of the women who are caught up in the prison industrial complex are explored so as to ensure response from the concerned bodies. Through release of the information, it would be easier to alter the increasing number of women incarcerated. This would also imply imminent change in the prison industrial complex.
