Summary
Black Panther is not a film, it is simply a movement; to witness the masterpiece that has been on everyone’s mind and a highlight in much of the small talk around the school, I was at the multi-culture center early. By 5:30 PM, I was ready for Wakanda the much hyped film of the year. There were free drinks and popcorn at the event, topping off my already elevated positive mood. Getting to the seats was much of a hustle, given the number of people that had come to the event. At around 6:25 pm the film started. The film was quite interesting and relates to a young man, called T’Challa coming back to his motherland in Africa, after his father the king, passes away. T’Challa comes to inherit power as the son of the fallen king, but he has to defend the throne.
Race
The film is one that is very keen on bringing out the element of race. This is relative to the fact that, the film brings out the pride of the African race. It gives it power and above all else a solid identity. It is a film that is anchored in the strength and the diversity of the African culture. With a twist to include the power of the black women in their society. This is a rather intriguing approach and one that has not been highlighted in the recent past. With most of the films being criticized for poor inclusion of minority races, it is a film that breaks...
