A Temporary Matter, is a piece that leaves the readers in a state of sorrow. It is a very intriguing piece and one that will provoke the thoughts of the readers. This is a story about a couple that is both struggling to stay afloat, while hanging on to their relationship even though it seems as though it is dying. The husband Shukumar is 35 and is without a day job, he stays at home while, Shoba, the wife, works as a proofreader and is 33 years of age. They lost their baby sometime back and everything changed (Lahiri).
This is a story that mimics many stories that are untold about the struggles of couples whose careers are struggling. This is a reflection of a part of the society that not most people talk about. It is a reflection of the struggles that people go through
