I. BACKGROUND AND RATIONALE
Cynthia's Welcoming Arms was formed to serve in a community with a high population of homeless kids, foster care kids, and single mothers. The high population has resulted in shortage of resources due to lack of enough support. Whereas the homeless kids, foster care kids, and single mothers receive support in terms of food and accommodation, such needs as hot showers are largely ignored. The main concern has been that during cold days, they lack hot showers, and this has increased the number of cases of sickness. Further, some of the children lack attention in terms of homework help and counselling since the counselling team has to deal with a large number of individuals.
The current proposal is related to various national development policies and strategies because it aims at helping the homeless kids, foster care kids, and single mothers to have their basic needs, improve their quality of life and health, and reduce homelessness, which is one of the national development goals. The services that the non-profit organization will offer are in line with the national goals of providing high quality services to the less fortunate. The organization will provide hot showers, hot and cold meals, after-school, homework help, and counselling services if needed. A survey was conducted and it was established that there is a shortage of these services within the region.
Concerned government officials have been notified of Cynthia's Welcoming Arms intention to operate in the area. The officials have also evaluated the services to be offered and their safety for public consumption. Further, they have encouraged the organization to work in coordination with other interest groups that provide similar services or serve the same population. Cynthia's Welcoming Arms has also been registered and certified to proceed with its operations.
II. OBJECTIVES
A. Development objectives
The organizational objectives are addressed in the national development objectives because Cynthia's Welcoming Arms aims at improving the living standards and quality of life of the community, and also reducing homelessness by providing shelter to the less fortunate. Further, the organization aims at providing counselling services to reduce potential cases of crime or suicide resulting from psychological and emotional breakdowns.
