The anthrax attack occurred in America after terror attacks as it started on the 18th day of September 2001(Janet, 2003). The letters that were dispatched contained granulated spores of anthrax because over 500 mailboxes were found to be anthrax positive. The letters were mailed in two bunches; with the first five letters mailed to five companies that are the New York Post, ABC, CBS, NBC, and American Media Inc. The second bunches of mailed letters were directed to the senators and were dated 9 of October (Heinrich, 2003).
The attack spread from New York to Washington DC because one of the letters in the second trail of the letter had been sent to Senator Tom Daschle. This attack found the public health department not ready to tackle issues that would leave the nation at a critical condition. The attack left 5 people dead and several injured with 22 anthrax cases.
