Cyber bulling refers to a form of harassment on people done by the use of electronic means. It has become a common problem on social media platforms and especially among the youths. Cyber bulling occurs when someone, especially the youth, harass other youths or teens especially on social media networks. Bullying behaviors that are common among the youth include the posting of sexual remarks, threats, another person’s personal information, and rumors. Bullying is taken to be an attempt by someone to hurt someone else’s feelings. Those who have experienced cyber bulling end up having low self-esteem, increases thoughts of committing suicide, become scared, angry with themselves, depressed and many other negative emotional responses. Internet trolling is among the common form of bulling in the internet that is aimed at eliciting and raising a reaction from a person. Cyber stalking is also another form of cyber bulling that involves stalking someone on social media and making their lives feel threatened.
In my study about cyber bulling, I did an interview with one of my friends who had experienced cyber bulling in her life. First, I asked her when she started being cyber bullied and she stated that it started when she was in high school. She had fallen in love with a boy in her class and in the process, she texted the boy trying to flatter him and get his attention.
