In the second half of the course, we have discussed character strengths, values, interests, abilities, and accomplishments. While discussed separately, these constructs are interrelated.
For this assignment, pretend you are a psychologist tasked with developing an assessment tool to help people determine a career path that would best suit them based on their strengths, values, interests, and abilities.
From Lesson 9, consider the individual’s character strengths.
From Lesson 10, consider the ten values found to be universal (from Peterson, 2006).
From the current lesson, consider the person’s interests and abilities. You might want to consider leisure interests in addition to well-developed interests.
Which approach are you going to use to measure each construct noted above (character strengths, values, and interests)? Provide your rationale. Are there any alternative assessment approaches you considered but ruled out? You can consider methods that were not included in the chapter.
Decide whether you are going to assess the person’s intellectual ability. Why or why not? If you are going to include this construct, which theory would you follow? How would you measure intellectual ability?
Are there are any other tools or measures commonly used to aid in the vocational search process that you might consider using?
Because outlining an entire algorithm for generating an ideal career based on the above measures is a bit too extensive for the purpose of this assignment, instead, provide a few brief examples. First, note how much weight you would assign to each construct (character strengths, values, interests, and abilities) if you were to create a formula for generating a list of ideal careers. For example, you might think that a person’s interests are most important and assign this construct 40% of the weight. You might think that values are next and assign them 25% of the weight, and so on. Provide your rationale.
Lastly, generate a list of five different careers. For each career, note the top two character strengths, top two values, and top two interests (leisure or well-developed) that you think are most important for the specified career.

Career assessments are essential in educating people about themselves and the career paths they choose. The appraisals are among the most fundamental when guiding a person on which career path to take. When exploring careers, effective assessment plays an essential role in educating people about their next opportunities and preventing them from being confused (Peterson, 2006). As a psychologist tasked with developing an assessment tool to help a person determine their career paths, I will be using their individual strengths, universal values, and interests and abilities as that would help develop a career assessment essential in increasing their understanding of the path they choose. 
Character Strength
           According to their profile, the individual has a sympathetic attitude and can make quick decisions. Additionally, they have integrity, which means that they are incapable of stealing from the firm they work in or accepting any bribes. Also, the person possesses the virtue of patience and social responsibility. Furthermore, they have good communication and leadership skills that would be effective if the person was in a managerial position (Peterson, 2006). The individual character skills that the person possesses will be helpful in determining if they are worthy of an administrative position in a company. 
Universal Values
           The individual has essential universal values helpful in steering them towards the right career path. These values include integrity, strong work ethic, writing skills, and motivational quick decision making. Additionally, the individual has good communication skills, can effectively work with other people, is flexible, and can work effectively using a computer. Moreover, the person possesses great analytical skills and a detailed orientation value. The universal values that the individual has will also be helpful in determining which career path they choose.
