While growing up, I saw my mom take care of many kids. There was never a time in our house when there was not a toddler in our house. I could see my mom play with them, and then the magic of time would turn the little kids into these annoying and entitled 3 to 5 year-olds. However, instead of showing the frustrations that the kids’ tantrums invoked in her, my mom would always smile and magically turn the tantrums into cute baby giggles. Unknowingly to me, she was running an informal child care business. But from afar, one would not be faulted if they assumed she was the mother of those kids because of her love for them. Having grown in such an environment, I grew fond of babies and thus began my quest to one day open and run a child care setting as a business owner. This essay will thus share my desire to pass on my mother’s magic while also fulfilling my business ambitions of running my own outlet.
Children deserve all the love in the world. This was a common phrase from my mother. Somehow, children brought out a certain light and exuberance in her. A child would brighten her day, and she would forget everything that seemed to trouble her. With my front-row seat, I was able to be a part of this transformation by my mother.
