Leadership and Ethical Principles
Leadership and ethical principles are instrumental to establishing a cohesive society where every individual is accorded due respect and dignity. Humility and respect are the two leadership principles that I have identified with the most. I think every leader should be humble and have the skills to delegate tasks. These two leadership principles are best complemented through accountability and justice ethical principles. I believe that practicing the two leadership principles and the two ethical principles is the path to great leadership as I will demonstrate in this essay.
Humility is a valuable aspect of leadership. As an individual, I believe that success is only achieved through collaboration with others. It is difficult to accomplish greater things without counting on the help of other individuals. Being humble makes it easier for a leader to collaborate with other individuals whether it is in the workplace context of society. For instance, being humble makes a leader approachable to subordinates. This ensures that the gap between leadership and following is not widened to the extent of crippling collaboration. Humility also makes a leader more willing to acknowledge the contributions of other individuals. This implies that a leader can easily acknowledge others’ input and motivate employees to share their ideas openly and work harder.
