Introduction to Qualitative Writing

Introduction to Qualitative Research
Pieces of writing are meant to convey a message or to convince readers about a particular topic. Certain writers make the mistake of believing that they can make any piece of writing. However, academic or scholarly writing is different. They are challenging and require writers to follow certain techniques. Most readers of academic or scholarly works are professionals that only care about supported and verified data. In this essay, I argue that academic and scholarly writing must follow certain standards so that readers can make sense of the contents.
Griffies, Perrie & Hull (2013), argue that a good piece of writing must start with an introduction which must also follow a certain order. The introduction can start with a general statement or a question as long as it can grab the attention of the reader. The introduction must move from a general statement to a specific statement that eventually narrows down to the thesis statement. The thesis statement is the most important part of the introduction because it gives readers information on what one is going to talk about in the paper.
