SUBJECT: History of Disneyland Resort in Paris: Lessons Learned
Following a request from the Disney Corporation, it is my honor to review the history of the Disneyland Resort in Paris and outline some of the Dos and Don’ts for the company and any global corporation planning to enter the global market. There is no doubt as to France is a country that is conservative about its culture. Therefore, any multinational company (MNC) that intends to establish its operations in this country has to think through their idea of culture. The country is well known for its wine and as a major wine export to other global markets (Thomas, Painbeni, & Barton, 2013). Therefore, the company’s failure to uphold this expectation amidst a grand opening of the Disneyland Resort in Paris was a serious mistake because it conveys disrespect to the people’s culture. This would result in most French nationals abandoning their products.
