Three audiences selected are children, the elderly, and pregnant women. These audiences have different characteristics, and the “don’t do drugs” message has to be tailored for each in order to be effective. For children, I would use child-appropriate stories, characters, humor, music, and language. Also, I would use traditional media such as plays, song, and television as this would encourage them to be more attentive (Kolucki & Lemish, 2011). These media would contain messages that discourage the use of drugs. Also, the use of special auditory and visual effects can be used to emphasize a key message being passed across (Kolucki & Lemish, 2011). For the elderly, I would take into consideration their problems (hearing, vision, cognitive), which are usually associated with aging. I will thus use sensory aids such as hearing aids and communication devices that would help them perceive the message better (Yorkston, Bourgeois, & Baylor, 2010).
