NOTE: Essay assignments in EH 1301 are not research assignments, but I realize that some knowledge of current affairs might be in order. Be extremely careful if you quote directly or indirectly. Review the model essay. The quotations in the model essay are exceptionally short and support the writer’s thesis (claim, argument). Base your essay on your own speculation or personal experiences (what you have previously heard, read, or experienced). If you must use a quotation, limit it to one short direct quotation (fewer than three lines of text).

Regardless of your choice of topics, the grade on Formal Essay 4 counts as 10% of your course grade. For example, if you score 85/B on Formal Essay 4, you earn 8.5 points on a 100-point scale toward your final course average.

Formal Essay 4 must include an introductory paragraph, at least three supporting paragraphs, and a concluding paragraph.

Watch the video below for additional instructions about organizing the cause and effect essay.
