The book 'the great divorce’ is an allegoric work, based on mind fiction settled in the narrator's dream. The author, Lewis, uses marginalized fantasies to bring to notice clear expectations in Christianity. Indeed, in chapter nine narrator met MacDonald in the valley of the shadow of life. MacDonald is a tall Scottish theologian and writer who turned out to be the narrator's hero and a discussion partner. Notably, MacDonald and the narrator encountered various ghosts at the valley portraying numerous themes in the chapters. For instance, the narrator met a famous ghost artist who was convinced to remain in the valley by a spirit against its will. Since the ghost wanted an environment where his artistic work would be recognized and appreciated by intellectuality. He said, “One grows out of [light]. Of course, you haven't seen my later works. One is- comes more and more interested in paint for its own sake." Unfortunately, the valley of shadow of life has no ownership and intellectuality. Therefore, the artist was to sacrifice his talent for the sake of god.
Moreover, in chapter ten and eleven MacDonald showed him a female ghost unsuccessfully looking for attention on her fashion and appearance. Besides, another female ghost who was consistently complaining about her husband, Robert. Indeed, the female ghost swore never to forgive her ungrateful husband even though her spirit Hilda and other ghosts pleaded with her to forgive him. Undoubtedly, the ghost became hurtled and fearless with the pities of not having a soul. Therefore, her willingness and salvation went unnoticed.
