Everyone experiences embarrassing moments in their lives, which they often want to forget for their humiliations. However, some of these experiences remain vivid in mind, no matter how much we try to ignore them. I have had my fair share of embarrassing moments, and I will write about one incident that I think is the most outstanding. It is interesting that each time I remember the incident, I cannot help laughing at myself. There is even more laughter with friends who know about the event every time it comes up in our conversations. It appears that the embarrassing side of the story is slowly losing its significance, and there’s more focus on the humor. In the foregoing, I think that laughter is and always will be the best form of therapy, against which nothing can stand.
It all started when my best friend Jerry set out to pull a big surprise on me during my birthday about three years ago. The idea was hatched one month before my birthday with Jerry as the mastermind and helped by 20 other mutual friends. I am the kind of person who does not fancy birthday celebrations, so I wasn’t even looking forward to the day. Indeed, I have lost count of my birthdays that have gone by without me noticing, only to remember them much later. Following Jerry’s plan, I was deluded that another close friend, Amy, was to travel abroad for about ten years, so she was to hold a farewell party on the same day as my birthday. Everything went to plan because I believed all that Jerry told me. Moreover, Amy confirmed that she was traveling abroad, and I reacted the way I was expected to; by feeling sad that Amy would be away for such a long time.
