Essay Instructions:

Create a reference list of four scholarly sources that you will use in your final project. References should follow APA format (7th edition).
For this part of the final project, you will use the UMGC Library BEHS 210 Course Guide, UMGC library databases, or Google Scholar to locate four scholarly or credible sources on your chosen topic. Your articles should represent at least two different social science disciplines.
What is a scholarly or credible source? You should rely on sources that have credibility. Appropriate sources are articles written by experts in the field, articles found in peer-reviewed journals, published documents from well-known research groups (e.g., Pew Research), and reports published by government agencies (e.g., NIH, CDC). Inappropriate sources would include popular websites (e.g., about.com, ehow.com, Wikipedia) or media outlets (e.g., Fox, MSNBC, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Forbes, etc.). These sources do not always accurately report their findings and are sometimes prone to bias. If a website or article fails to report the credentials of the author(s) and does not include citations for the information contained in the article, chances are it is not a scholarly source and therefore should not be used.
Submit a summary of each article using the attached worksheet. In your own words, identify the key findings of the article. Do not simply state what the article was about (e.g., "This article talks about cyberbullying"). What specific information did you learn from your source? (E.g., "Cyberbullying has become a popular means of abuse among teenagers, affecting about half of all young people.") The purpose of the key findings section is to demonstrate that you have read and understood each of your sources. Your key findings should be 300 words in length. Do not simply copy and paste the abstract or any other part of your source! This violates the university's Academic Integrity policy.
The purpose of this assignment is to 1) ensure that you are using appropriate, scholarly sources, and 2) to make sure you are on track for your final project.
Please use annotated bibliography worksheet.

Key findings (300 words)
This article centers on the extreme gender segregation that is abundant in every workplace of today’s society. To be more specific, the authors mainly focus on why extreme gender segregation occurred and what instances extreme segregation is inside the workplace, using essentialism and vertical inequality. And to serve as evidence, using the model they made to find answers, the result of their study shows how many forms of essentialism centers on extreme gender segregation.
One significant finding in their study was the development of their comprehensive model where they based it on three sources of segregation: (1) the “female-advantaging” is a form of essentialism where women are being encouraged to not proceed for occupations that requires male-type skills and less pay, (2) the “male-advantaging” is a form of essentialism where men are imaged towards a high paying occupation and require male-type skills, and (3) the verticle principle that shows the possibilities of men pursuing distinguished occupations despite removing all forms of advantages that come with essentialism. At the same time, the second significant findings would be the great influence of essentialism towards gender segregation. They explained that the analytic, physical, and interactional forms or comprehensive operationalization of essentialism create a wide segregation area in an array. They also claimed that stories of segregation are authentic and are sometimes presented in a very detailed manner.
Initially, two revolutions are currently still on the run, and these are the vertical and essentialist revolutions. The authors suggest other revolutions as countermeasures since both still haven’t fully addressed the situation and provided strong residuals. These would be the first and second revolutions, where the second revolution would accompany the first, which focuses on essentialist segregation. Though the revolutions have their risks, with the help of liberal-egalitarian terms, protection could take place.
How do you know that this is a credible/scholarly source?
This article was published in the American Journal of Sociology and found in The University of Chicago Press Journals.
Assess the usefulness of these resources to your project. How will you use the findings for your final project? If you found that this resource was not valuable, please discuss why. (100 words)
My topic will talk about gender segregation, regardless of place, situation, or age. This article is helpful in many ways as it addresses gender segregation, which presents a sociological perspective, and talks about the abundance of gender segregation and the possible reason for its occurrence. It is also a great help to support the idea where men and women are separated and are mistreated through different factors. On the other h...
