Even during the prehistoric times, it is evident that people value art and creativity, thereby making art conventional. Every person experiences art in one way or another, especially during childhood, where creativity and expression are essential for proper personality development. The Father of Kindergarten, Friedrich Froebel, considers art as a vital part of childhood where children experience their art and appreciate the art of others. He also believes that it encourages the child to reach his or her full-blown potential (Fox & Berry, 2008).
Children are innately inquisitive. They discover things through exploration, observation, and trial-and-error. This unhindered exploration allows brain development. Art is the conventional way to allow children to have free play, and this gives them the autonomy to deploy different objects in unorganized experimentation. Furthermore, it helps them to develop their fine and gross motor skills, language and acquisition, and mathematical skills CITATION Rym15 \l 1033 (Rymanowicz, 2015).
This knowledge of art and childhood development encouraged governments around the globe to build arts-based centers with different specialties such as music conservatories, performing arts and visual arts schools, fashion and interior design, and architecture. Some examples are The Julliard School, Boston Conservatory, Yale School of Drama, and The University of Santo Tomas College of Fine Arts and Design. These schools help foster a person’s potential and improve them through their master’s guidance. These schools will open the children to more possibilities, thereby allowing them to explore and enhance their talent even more. They will be taught known techniques in the field they have chosen, and they will let them make their unique methods (Moore, 2018).
