Cold War Impacts on the United States Of America
Even today, in some aspects, the Cold War still influence American society. This influence has its roots from the different values between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. The former represents democracy and capitalism, while the latter represents communism and authoritarianism. These countries were the two remaining dominant power after World War =2\*Roman II, and their conflict and contesting attitudes became a worldwide conflict, and hence, the beginning of the Cold War. The Cold War was different from the conventional war; the Cold war was marred with propaganda and conspiracies instead of the usual military engagements that were observed during World War =2\*Roman II (Shaw, 2010). These movies had the effect of bringing a sense of patriotism as well as bring a sense of paranoia concerning the communist activity in the U.S. For instance, when these anti-communist movies persisted, hate rhetoric against Russians grew to the point that suspected communist in Hollywood were rooted out and many lives of people who had association with the Soviet Union were ruined (Shaw, 2010). This anti-communist rhetoric rippled and trickled down American society. For example, the American League of Southern California collected about 2 million names of suspected communist members, some of whom were blacklisted and fired (Kawashima, 2016). These unsubstantiated claims made the lives of these American citizens ruined, and their civil rights infringed.
Not every facet of the cultural contentions culminated by the Cold War was terrible....
