Epidemiology comprises different branches, each with distinct features. The descriptive one focuses on disease pattern determination, while the analytical one prioritizes testing hypotheses contained in the former. Finally, managerial epidemiology concerns itself with epidemiologic methods application to management-based problems (Rohrer, 2014). These branches compare and contrast each other in different ways.
The similarity between managerial epidemiology and the other two branches is that they all use disease-associated data. All the branches also constitute significant epidemiological study areas. However, descriptive and analytical departments have more similarities and differences. For instance, the two sides form the two leading epidemiological studies. They also explore the patterns, distributions, and health and illness determinants in specified populations (Baron, 1996).
