This is a pediatric problem associated with inconsistent passage of stool. The problem requires medical analysis in its identification, proper diagnosis, and treatment to bring comfort to the patients during toilet use.
Encopresis is the unintentional passage of stool, also known as fecal incontinence, caused by chronic constipation. The release of stool is usually voluntary or non-voluntary, occurring when the patient withholds stool for a long time in the colon, due to fear of using the toilet resulting in constipation (Braun & Anderson, 2007). According to Borowitz (2017), encopresis is not behavioral or psychological disarray, but the behavioral difficulties associated with it are rather the result of the condition as opposed to its cause.
