Interpersonal and Supportive Psychotherapies
Supportive psychotherapy refers to a treatment that ameliorates symptoms of depression and improves, restores, or maintains adaptive skills, self-esteem, and ego functions (Rothe, 2017). Interpersonal psychotherapy entails a time-limited, evidence-based, and focused approach that is used by individuals to treat mood disorders. The primary similarities between these two psychotherapies are that they eradicate depression. Moreover, they work well for different groups of patients, such as younger and older individuals. Interpersonal and supportive psychotherapies are effective in eliminating depression since patients are given a chance to discuss their issues.
