Sin, Suicide, and Euthanasia

Life is a gift from God. Euthanasia is also referred to as mercy killing. It is only God who has the right to take away life. According to Christians, committing suicide is considered a sinful act. Christians believe that it is morally wrong to commit suicide. There are different verses in the bible which elaborate more on the case of Suicide. For example the case of Judas (Mathew 27:5). God has given Christians the gift of life and life should be respected, treasured and protected. Euthanasia is the same as suicide. No one has the right to take the life of another individual away. For example, health care providers have the right to take care of patients and not to take their life away. As we noted in the topic reading “we ought to care, never to kill.”
I don't think this topic is much easy to talk about because I have experienced both situations. Ten years ago, my father was suffering from cancer. After seeking treatment from different hospitals the doctors recommended that mercy killing should be done because the man was in too much pain. This was a difficult decision to make because as a Christian, I knew euthanasia was wrong. However, the procedure was carried out.
