Assignment: Personal Leadership Philosophies
Many of us can think of leaders we have come to admire, be they historical figures, pillars of the industry we work in, or leaders we know personally. The leadership of individuals such as Abraham Lincoln and Margaret Thatcher has been studied and discussed repeatedly. However, you may have interacted with leaders you feel demonstrated equally competent leadership without ever having a book written about their approaches.
What makes great leaders great? Every leader is different, of course, but one area of commonality is the leadership philosophy that great leaders develop and practice. A leadership philosophy is basically an attitude held by leaders that acts as a guiding principle for their behavior. While formal theories on leadership continue to evolve over time, great leaders seem to adhere to an overarching philosophy that steers their actions.
What is your leadership philosophy? In this Assignment, you will explore what guides your own leadership.
To Prepare:
Identify two to three scholarly resources, in addition to this Module’s readings, that evaluate the impact of leadership behaviors in creating healthy work environments.
Reflect on the leadership behaviors presented in the three resources that you selected for review.

A description of your core values.
A personal mission/vision statement.
An analysis of your CliftonStrengths Assessment summarizing the results of your profile
A description of two key behaviors that you wish to strengthen.
A development plan that explains how you plan to improve upon the two key behaviors you selected and an explanation of how you plan to achieve your personal vision. Be specific and provide examples.
Be sure to incorporate your colleagues’ feedback on your CliftonStrengths Assessment from this Module’s Discussion 2.

Each individual has a unique set of qualities and different goals. The differences can be qualified by various leadership styles, leading to a unique set of philosophies. As a highly deliberate person, the most appropriate leadership style for me is strategic leadership.
To begin, strategy refers to a conferred process that entangles the relevance of each stakeholder. A strategic leader allows recognizing the team members’ individual objectives to prevent creating resistance, hindering the group’s overall success. The strategic leadership style is compatible with individuals drawn to anticipating changes and formulating an adaptable alternative solution to unexpected situations. Furthermore, it allows the individual to explore one’s inquisitiveness to strategize creative methods that align with the team's mission and vision. It also helps the person commit to a complex environment and reinforce the strategies to achieve the goal. This requires one to comprehensively understand the context of the circumstances, the concepts provided, and the capabilities of each team member and the team as a whole (Norzailan et al., 2016).
Aside from formulating a strategy, the leader’s role is to produce a driving force to push for decisive changes that will generate a new ideology from the team members. The leader must also be able to ride the transformations perfectly to maintain or improve the members' trust that the changes that will be implemented are necessary for the team's success (Sila & Gichinga, 2016).
This leadership style is well-suited for me due to my ability to find a way through uncertainties and ambiguities. My ultimate goal in life is to generate a stable environment with the help of the people around me to achieve an unshattered success. Moreover, I can communicate with various people of different personalities, which is necessary for upholding each stakeholder's philosophies who are affected in every decision that I make. Excellent communication skills are also essential in the implementation of new strategies for a constantly changing environment.
As a strategic leader, the following philosophies should be upheld by the team: First, we should nurture each member’s talent and capabilities then hone these into one to benefit the whole team. Second, we must assist the members in discovering their strengths and weaknesses and decide on which factors should prioritize. Third, we should create an environment that is inclusive to the members. Fourth, we must explore the ideas of our colleagues then identify the best strategy through a team effort. This shall help all members to become learners first before they become leaders. Fifth, the leader should focus on finding a solution rather than solving a problem using novel technologies or new science tactics. Lastly, the leader believes that the team's success is highly based on the superiority of each team member rather than the control of the leader. The success is secondary to cultivated changes that resulted in stable c...
